A man comes into your convenience store around midnight carrying a baseball bat. He threatens to rob you. Being the smart owner, you pull a rifle from under the counter. The man drops to his knees and begs forgiveness. His family is hungry. He has lost his job.

What happens next? Many people would have just shot the would be robber. In Colorado, they would be well within their rights to shoot the would be robber dead.
