A friend of mine sent this to me and I thought it was so very cool that I had to pass it along. I’m not sure where it comes from so we’ll say a little blessing to the author who put it together. (If anyone knows who wrote this, let me know!)

A couple people asked how the no caffeine, wheat, sugar, and alcohol diet was going, so I thought a little update post might be in order.
I went to see the doc and my bp was 118/76.
I’M BARELY ALIVE!!
Christ.
How are we feeling? D. described it last night as being asleep but irritable and fidgety. Yeah.
I’m incredibly [...]

“What’s wrong?” D. said.
“Nothing why?”
“You just don’t seem like yourself.”
“Huh.”
New blood pressure med = Zombification. It’s a known side-effect.
I’m sure I’ll feel better soon. In the meantime, are you using that arm?

We’ve talked about it (most recently here). Sleep deprivation leads to metabolic changes which result in obesity. The data is in for sleep deprivation in children - it leads to obesity. “Writing in the journal Archives of Disease in Childhood, (Shahad) Taheri said there was increasing evidence that shortened sleeping times result in metabolic changes [...]

“So my blood pressure is 122/60 but I feel like crap,” I say.
“Well that’s not good,” the doctor says. “You probably lost too much salt. How long have you felt like this?”
“Off and on since we started the new blood pressure medicine - you know the diuretic/potassium enhancer?” I say. “I had [...]

Have you seen this? It turns out that daily “doses” of dark chocolate can reduce your blood pressure. (Check out this article) A number of studies show that the flavonoids in the chocolate help increase insulin resistance as well as lowering blood pressure. Around the country people celebrate!

Have you seen this? Newsweek’s cover story is about “Type D” personalities. The “D” stands for distress and there is a marked correlation between heart disease and people’s distress level. (Don’t worry I didn’t qualify!) Take the test and see where you stand.
If you feel distressed, you must do something - get [...]

I made an appointment with my doctor to discuss my blood pressure and to review my progress. Actually, I have been doing really well. Practicing my biofeedback, going to acupuncture, taking my ace-inhibitors and Chinese medicine. I am exercising regularly and watching my diet. Overall, my bp is down and I [...]

I received an email with this link and quiz on it. It seems you take the test and find out what chakras are blocked. It then gives you ways to unblock your chakras. Check it out!

I have received a few subtle questions about my blood pressure. I continue to get acupuncture and enjoy it. Acupuncture is such an odd thing. It turns out that I have “stagnant liver chi” which I guess is common for most North Americans. In the unraveling of my blood pressure, I [...]
