I would have a porch party but being one of only two white folks on the block I am certain, and I do mean certain no one would come...and yes my neighbors and I talk frequently but we just do things different is all.

I hear you. It's hard to know what will engage people who are different from you. One way I do it is to give them the idea, subtly. Then you get to go to their porch party. ;) Some times it back fires though. I gave the mil the idea of all the women in the family going on a trip together. She then invited everyone but me; still does. *shrugging* Sometimes, you just have to let go.
