Just for a moment today:
- Shut off your music.?
- Turn off the television.
- Silence your telephone.?
- Turn off your IM.
- Shut down your Skype.
- Turn off your social media – Facebook, Plurk, Twitter, and all the rest of them
And take ten deep breaths. You can count in four beats, hold for four beats and release your breath for four beats. Or simply breathe. There’s no right or wrong to your breath. It’s your breath!
We live in a noisey, overwhelming time. Today, let’s just take a small break from the overwhelm.?
And breathe.
It’s the kindest thing we can do for ourselves and the people around us.

I can do that…say at 12 noon EST. But I will have to breathe all the way up to that time…is that ok ;-P
I try to do that at least once a day, today I will make an extra special effort.
I did that Sunday night. in fact…I just went to bed at 730 and read.
TWMark – I think it’s OK to add a few breaths along the way!
Perpstu – I think the overwhelm is one of the reasons for people doing so many stupid things right now! Good for you for making the effort.
Janet – Oh goodness! I bet you needed the quiet. You are in the middle of the flurry! Good job!
Breathing deeply, realizing how lucky I am.
During the day I have no music on, only perhaps the occasional youtube or music in the car. The TV is only on if my son is home for a few hours. I suppose during the day for me is between 9 and 3. My phone doesn’t ring that much I don’t think. IM, don’t have that myself or Skype or social media.
I have been reading, have lots of books waiting for me at the library! When the kids come home it is noisy most nights.
Thank you for the always-timely reminder. I’ve never had very good luck with deep breathing because it bores me, but perhaps I could start with 3 or 4 and work up to 10.
It’s funny how we need to be reminded to breath, but we do!
Whenever I try a breathing exercise, I resist at first but if I can get through that I can reach a place of deep calm.
Thank you for this gentle reminder, Claudia.
I’ve been trying to do this more this year-I don’t always succeed, but at least it’s there as a goal!
I do that a little each day. I don’t think I could get through the day without it.
