Marriage – let everyone get married if they want to
Tan lines – i don’t tan, so i don’t have to worry about it
Perpetual barking dogs — i trained mine not to bark

i think america should enact siestas every afternoon like our wonderful mexican friends get to enjoy. i could use a nap at work this afternoon. everyone could bring their own cot and security blanket. fun.

Drugs: should be legalized. Prohibition doesn’t work. We’re wasting our tax dollars on something where we could be COLLECTING tax dollars instead. People have the right to decide whether to drink or smoke tobacco, which are certainly harmful. Why not give them the right to use recreational drugs – especially marijuana? It’s not like everybody’s going to turn into a raving lunatic. People who smoke pot are still going to smoke pot; people who don’t probably won’t.

Marriage: If people want to get married, and they’re of legal age (can we please knock off the 14-year-old brides bullshit?), the government has no business saying whether they can or can’t. End of story.

Tan lines: I’m against ‘em. More nekkidness!

Barking dogs: I always wonder if the dogs are being neglected by their owners.

Refugees: They should be taken care of by the government, because they’re displaced through no fault of their own, and the government’s responsibility is to protect its citizens.

I’m not sure what you mean by the war against modernization, but it sounds like an idiotic concept. We should modernize everything and send the Luddites packing to go live with the Amish and Quakers. Ha!

Finally, I think superhero fiction should be recognized as its own genre. And somebody should publish my stuff about it. I also think I should win Powerball so I don’t have to keep punching a stupid time clock and can write full-time. Can I get a government grant please? Anyone? Matthew Lesko?

I think drugs should be legalized, but people should be forced to go out and earn the money to buy them, instead of always burglarizing my house. All of my gold jewelry and heirlooms went to feed someone’s drug habit. They should get a job and buy their drugs with their own hard earned money.

People have barking dogs to protect their homes, sadly. It works.

All marriage should be legalized. I could never understand what the big deal is. It should be a non-issue. Whom is it hurting? And I would imagine the divorce rate will be the same as with “straight” people, so there will end up being a lot of rich lawyers.

    * Legalization of drugs: Great idea
    * Marriage – gay and otherwise: Another great idea
    * Tan lines: Not so great
    * Perpetual barking dogs: Even less great
    * Refugees: Very sad
    * War against modernization: Also sad
    * and whatever you?d like to talk about: Craig Ferguson talking about voting! Go see the video!

I’ve never done drugs, but I don’t see what the big deal is on legalizing them. Seems to me people will drive vehicles regardless and that would be my biggest concern. I know how I drive when I take Benadryl and it’s not good. Too many innocent lives on the street, ya know what I’m saying?

I wish all 50 states and internationally everyone allowed marriage regardless of the couple’s sexual orientation. Love should never be stopped or limited as far as I am concerned.

    Tan lines, are clearly evil.

Dog barking is bad when I have a headache.

Refugees, agree with previous comments, it is sad.

And where is this anti-modernization war, let me at ‘em!

I’d like to play Devil’s Advocate on a few things here. On Gay Marriage, there are a few ‘problems’. The first is religious. The argument goes that marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman. Religion has no place in our lives when it comes to forcing someone else to do or not do something. In a hospital, there are rules that say family only, and that does not include gays.

In the ancient days, marriage dealt with the production of children, and in theory, it protected women. This is the holdover, and how it is being used.

A more insidious problem is transfer payments such as Social Security, and other issues such as retirement benefits, and estate benefits. Being married, you pay a marriage penalty at tax time. You get the right to collect your spouse’s social security after they die, and vice versa. Not gays regardless of how long they have lived together monogamously or otherwise, just like you have. And then there’s the $2 million estate exclusion you have when your spouse dies, called the death tax. Gays don’t get that either.

Legalize gay marriage, and the Treasury takes a hit. Gays constitute about 10% of the population. Who knows how many will marry.

In real life, I am in favor of gay marriage, but it is not going to come cheap, or without a battle. The religious right likes to live in the good old days of 5000 BC

Refugees and immigrants are another long story and not a quick answer.

I have no tan line position.

I like dogs, they like me. Barking has never been an issue.

Anti-moderization. I have enough on my plate, please find someone smarter than me, thank you.

I don’t use drugs but think pot should be legal. It’s obscene that people undergoing chemo can’t get it readily, and it seems to be less dangerous than liquor, despite the legality of the latter.

Marriage should be irrespective of gender. Why should only straight people be miserable – or happy?

Living in San Francisco, tan lines are not a pressing concern.

Allowing dogs to bark all day and night is incredibly abusive to the dogs and to ones neighbors.

On the Statue of Liberty, it says “Give me your tired, your hungry, your poor.” If we don’t really mean it, perhaps we should remove Lady Liberty from NY Harbor for misleading people who come here in search of a better life.

Does war against modernization refer to mining Alaska, (against) or to living like the Amish, who have that right but I don’t care to? Or are we talking about Iraq and Afghanistan? I’m not sure what this means so can’t give a reasoned response.
