This blender will kill someone.

It’s only a matter of time.

What am I talking about? I’m talking about my new fabulous L’Equip Blender. Turns out it’s deadly.

Check this out:

This is a piece of blender blade. It broke when I blended: 1 cup of frozen berries, 1 cup of cold soymilk and 2 pieces of frozen banana cut into 2″ slices.

I tried to return the blender to 877myjuicer.com. I was told that the only thing they could do was discount another blender. They continue to sell this blender.

I emailed the president of the company who manufacturers the blender and they said they were “disappointed” in these blades.

Disappointed? Really.

Hopefully no one will die.

Please pass this along to your subscribers. No one should purchase anything from 877myjuicer.com or Kitchen Resources.

If a company doesn’t give a shit that they sell a dangerous product, why give them your money?

Letter to president of Kitchen Resources

Response from 877myjuicer.com: (8/5/08)

Hi Claudia,

Thanks for keeping me in the loop on this email chain. We have learned a lot about the RPM Blender because of this and have made an internal decision to discontinue reselling this product effective immediately. It is clear that there are dangers, which we were completely in the dark about until you brought them to our attention, associated with the LEquip RPM Blender and until we get undeniable proof that the problem has been rectified it will stay that way.

Thanks,

Andrew

OG…I posted the gist of this on my blog with a hyperlink back to this post. I wonder where the steel for the blade came from, obviously it is a non-tempered, or poorly tempered product they are using there

Woah! Did you find that blade piece before or after you began consuming? That’s horribly dangerous. I can’t believe the flippant attitude of the website either. Unreal. Glad nobody was hurt!!

TWMark – Thank you for passing this along – maybe we can save someone’s child. I don’t know where the blades came from – but they knew they were bad and still sold them. That’s the worst thing.

Happy Camper – I heard it chink against the Nalgene bottle -that’s the only way I knew the blades were broken. Now how horrifying is that?

Odat – Thanks for passing the word along!

Ian – I just might do that today.

    FuriousBall – Well said.

MaryT/The Teach – Hopefully it will help.

Janet – Yep, their headquarters is in Utah.

Call me jaded, but this is basically my opinion of most large-scale businesses. Ethics are generally left in the parking lot – if there were any to leave in the first place.

VERY glad you were not injured, and definitely a big thank you for spreading the word.

Oh my goodness! That would have been a serious lawsuit had something happened. Thank God nothing did.

Great letter C – I had this blender on my want list from seeing it on your previous post. Thanks for sharing!

I can’t believe the company at least did not refunded your expenses. You should have been honoured with 6 digit check.
With such an unprofessional management, I agree, keep far away from 877myjuicer.com and Kitchen Resources.

I sell specailty metals for a living. Tell me what they said- I think the product was defective, but must know more- Even knowing what I know, they still design stuff that doesn’t work…

Well great that they’re going to pull the blenders, but they’re going to give you a refund, right? Good grief, you could’ve been seriously injured by this.

I had a moment with Dell “customer service” this morning that still has me mumbling to myself.

Julia – It’s very sad when the psychopaths run the world. Very sad indeed.

Patti – We were very lucky indeed.

Comedy Plus – That’s good news!

Ivanhoe – Sadly, the manufacturer could give two shits. Very sad.

Jill – At least when the lawsuit happens, this information will be available – they admit to knowing the blades were bad and sold the item anyway.

Christy – It’s unbelievable. Psychopathic in fact.

TorAa Mirror – Nope. I think you are wise to stay as far away as possible. I wish I had.

Mimi Lenox – Hopefully they will do something – that remains to be seen.

Los Angelista – No refund. Nope. No money is on the table. I’m more interested in getting this off the market than anything else. Although money is always nice. Yes, we were very lucky – we tend to be. I worry about those who aren’t as lucky.

Squirrelly – Me too. We were very lucky!
