Ask Yourself.

If I didn’t worry about anyone else’s approval or
ask anyone else’s opinion,
what would I do now?”
–MJ Ryan
In celebration of 56 brave men, who launched this mad experiment we call the United States of America, I’m going to take my personal freedom. Without regard for other’s opinion or approval, I will follow my own inner wisdom.
Will you join me?

Move about the same as I have since becoming an adult. Freedom is worth the price paid by the individual if it buys freedom for others.
Can I just say I’m pleased to have been born and grown up here in America? The only place better I can think of off-hand is Norway, and that’s only because adults make more money and live longer there. But it’s, like, cold ‘n shit. Today’s forecast here: 91 degrees. Woot!
Colorado should secede. We’re too good for the rest of the country anyway. LOL

Being a Canadian, I feel that personal freedom can’t be truly enjoyed without consideration for one’s neighbor. Probably why Canadians are so darn polite. We pursue happiness but not at the expense of the other guy. We’re always going for the win-win.
Anarchy generally amuses me. If everyone went about doing what they wanted, whenever they wanted, there would be nothing to do and nowhere to go. No one would bother to run all the things that anarchists dream of doing on their endless time off.
Having said all that, personally I’m not one to care much about what people say or think, in terms of censoring my behavior. As long as I’m not hurting anyone, what does it matter what I do? I’m a live-and-let-live kind of gal. I’m not even going to tell the anarchist I think he or she is basically an idjit. As long as they don’t camp on my front lawn, power to ya, buddy.
Claudia, I’m with you!
I’m wondering if America & I were meant to be… I was born the year of her 200th birthday :o)
Love this.
THe highest act of freedom is to give up your freedom in the service of others. Without such acts there would be no army to protect us.
I think that there are many people who have difficulty seeing that there is a giant difference between the “dream” and the actual country of the United States of America and what its government may have done lately.
This country is more its people than its government and isn’t that one of the points of forming this country? Just because you disagree with this or that, please don’t let that stop you from being proud to be an American or from celebrating its independence.
If you dislike where we are going, then do what you can to change the direction.
Fabulous post!
This is making me very thoughtful, as to what personal freedom means. We hold ourselves hostage so much and hold on to our stories and beliefs so tightly that it’s hard to be free from them.
Oh I’m with ya alright!!!
Peace
TWM - Hurray for personal freedom!
Ian - lol! We’re a military state. How could Colorado sucede? Would we just kick the army off Ft. Carson? The Air Force/HSA out of Buckley? Everyone else out of Cheyenne Mountain? What about the 10th Mtn Division? Sounds like a novel!
Julia - Hurray for the live and let live girl! yes, I think that being aware of your neighbor is really a way of living well.
Mary/The teach - Hurray!
Ivanhoe - Sounds like a match!
HRH -
Dr. John - Yes, and this service includes people like you who service our spirit, families of military people, therapists, doctors, politicians, as well as the military and feds. It takes a lot to make a country work.
Traveler - That’s a good point. I believe it’s an experiment. No one really knew where it would end up - and we have some rocky moments to show for it. But yes, participating is the point.
Lauren -
Colleen - Yes, indeed. So how then do we take the freedom that is afforded to us? Very good question!
Odat - Hurray!
