Hero?

I have joined the 55 Flash Fiction Friday and I encourage you to do the same. Flash fiction (any story under 100 words) is an excellent way to hone your writing skills. You have 55 words to create a story with a beginning, middle and end. It’s hard but a great practice.

Here’s my first 55 Flash Fiction for Friday.

Flash Fiction Friday

Hero?

Bored.  No, completely bored.  Crystal took a step forward pushing her package with her feet.

The man ahead of her stormed out of the Post Office.  Through the windows, Crystal watched him stalk to his car.  Looking down, she picked up his forgotten package.

Running after him, Crystal yelled, “Sir, your package”.

The bomb exploded.

  1. that’s a cool idea, i like forcing variables on a creative process once in a while just to stir the pot a bit

  2. Hey I’m glad you decided to do it….
What a powerful story!!! My proverbial hat is off to you! Nice!
    Peace

  3. I’ve always heard that the most successful writers are hard on their characters.

  4. FuriousBall - I’ve found it to be a great way to practice writing succinctly. Hopefully, it entertains and intrigues.

Odat - Thanks for the inspiration! I think it will befun.

Heart in SF - Hmmm…. I’m certain that’s true. I read a book that said that authors tend to coddle their characters and that great books are written by authors brave enough to put their characters through the mill.

  11. Allison - Oh hurray! I’ll look for yours on Friday.

Nila - Hey thanks. I try to make them a little titillating so you think about it. We’ll see how it goes….

  12. Claudia, Omigod. I envy the imagination of true writers. What an imagination it takes to write a little story like that.

    Goodness.

  13. That’s awesome, but no way can I do that LOL!

  14. Josie - True Writer? Wow. That’s a real compliment.
