Dinner.

cave-blog.gif

Another brilliant comic by Hilary Price of Rhymes with Orange.

After achieving my goal of becoming the trophy wife, and actually meeting the naked neighbor (who is very nice), I decided I needed a new impossible goal for the fall.

I decided to decrease my percent fat.

It’s pretty easy for me to lose pounds, but to actually change my body composition has always been nearly impossible.  I once lost fifty pounds  - 2 pounds a week, lots of exercise, all the smart stuff - but never lost a percent fat.  I was the same percent fat only fifty pounds lighter.  Sigh.

For the next three months, I’m going to eat five times a day, eat 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fat, and, sigh, bitch, moan, I’m going to get a wee bit more aerobic exercise.

That’s the plan.   That’s the new goal.

God, I hate aerobic exercise….

  1. Good luck to you. :) I am tempted to try something similar. My body shape is changing but the pounds seem reluctant to find a new address.

    Peace,

  2. Yes!!! I can now see your site correctly.

I am really lazy and I need to start exercising now that my body too is recreating it’s shape. Alas, that laziness decreases my desire to do anything….

  3. Chani - Yes, it’s too bad we can’t determine where those pounds go. I’d like 5# added to my breasts please! ;)

ADW - It is amazing how we change. I’m glad you can see the site! :)

  4. Yo tubby, you need to get your stomach stapled. I got a staple gun in my tool shed. You’re welcome to borrow it as long as you replace the staples.

  5. I don’t know if I have ever checked my body fat but I imagine I would not be happy with the numbers. Good luck to you with the goal though. You’re pretty good at taking them out so far.

  6. Dyck - Oh super. I’ll be right over. Are you near Lakeside? or do you live in the amusement park?

Christy - Isn’t that funny? Most people haven’t checked their body fat. The BMI is supposed to estimate body fat - but does a very poor job of it. And it’s the fat that causes all the problems - heart disease, etc - not the pounds. I have this thing called an Acumeasure. It’s easy, inexpensive and accurate. Can’t beat that eh?

  7. HHAA!!! I LOVE that cartoon.

Good Luck, my friend…and GO GET ‘EM, TIGER!

  8. Kevin - I’m thinking I need some testosterone…. sigh…. We’ll see.

  9. I’ve given up. I weigh the same as I did three years ago. I look different. I know that your course of action is the appropriate one, I’m just too lazy. And tired. bad, bad me.

  10. Michelle - I think it’s about timing. When you’re ready to get on it, you will.

  11. You’ve got a very specific diet planned. Please post a sample menu. How will you keep track of all that?

I love aerobics, even step aerobics. I can’t help it, I’m a child of the 80’s and I’ve been doing them since. But dieting is my problem. I hate to diet, which makes my workouts somewhat couterproductive.

Good luck. You’ve got to find a class that you really enjoy, that makes all the difference. If you lived near me, I’d drag you to my classes.

  12. Meems - Hrm. Maybe I should look for an aerobics class. Is there one you recommend??

  13. I have never had the impetus to measure calories or percentages of protein, carbs, etc. I don’t eat junk food, anything fried, or excessive sweets, and I buy organic produce when I can. As a vegetarian, I try to eat legumes, nuts and other sources of protein. The “body fat test” I learned in college was to pinch your waistline and see how much flesh came off your bones. Very high tech, for sure. There is considerably more to pinch these days than there used to be.

I hate aerobics, too, especially since I broke my back a few years ago. That also put an end to my running.

  14. My comment was consumed. It was a fat one. All carbs.
