Whacha doing this weekend?
This weekend is an excellent time to begin that novel! National Novel Writing Month begins November 1. The challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel from scratch in a month. You can make your commitment to write 175 pages at the National Novel Writing website starting October 1. You then turn in your finished work to the website to compete for prizes. (Check out their archives while you are there.)
What does that have to do with this weekend? This is the last weekend in September. It’s your last chance to get ready before you make your commitment. Create an outline! Talk through your storyline with a friend. Sharpen your pencils. Back up your computers. This is your last weekend to make sure you are ready before you make the commitment
The general plan is that I will make an effort to write a novel in November. I am hoping to talk Paul and Brian into it as well, but we’ll see how it goes. I know that my friend, Mrs. Filthy, is also planning on writing then. What about you?
