It’s already started….
I looked outside yesterday and saw the tree across the street had already started to show it’s fall colors. This tree is the earliest tree to turn bright yellow, often months before the others. Touring the Grove last night, it’s apparent that the fall change has already begun.
Leaves changing on the trees are the first sign that summer is beginning to move into fall. While I learned at college that trees change due to the amount of light (and the tree across the street gets little light), it turns out that trees change due to light, temperature and weather. (Why Leave Change Color)
It is possible that the leaves are changing earlier this year due to the wet weather and the cool temperatures at night. It’s hard to tell. If you live in Colorado, and like to see the fall colors in the mountains, it’s a sure bet that the aspens will loose their leaves early this year. We plan to visit the amazing display of bright yellow, red and green, early September.
We hope you have a chance to visit nature’s wild and colorful display this year!
