Harry Potter weekend
Did you read it too? I spent the weekend reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I received it on Saturday, finished it Saturday night and then started it again on Sunday. I re-read it to see if it made more sense the second time. (Now you are thinking that I am a geek, but that was discovered last week.)
I am wondering if maybe I am thinking too much. The book seems to have lots of clues as to what might be going on, but on the surface it’s fairly black and white. I mean, you can’t sit through over 9 hours of the Lord of the Rings movies and not figure out what’s “good” and what’s “bad”. But I wonder if it is so black and white.
(Of course, I feel a bit like a nitwit twit for falling for this major media promotion, but hey, I am as susceptible to great marketing as the next person!)
For example:
Is Snape really evil? Or is he doing what he is told to do?
Is Draco simply a boy trying to save his family? Or an evil protégé?
And really whose potions book was that?
Any thoughts?
