“Good Morning” in the Park
Every morning, I take Rose, our 4 year old Vizsla, to the park. She is very funny, so I laugh at her antics while we walk. We pass a variety of people from all walks of life, all ages, and ethnicity on the summer mornings in the park. When we first started walking, out of habit, I would say, “Good Morning” to everyone we passed. Generally, I receive weird looks, stares, and people acting as if I have “coodies”.
Now I say “Good Morning” to the people we pass because I like to say hello in the moring and I wonder how they will react. Some people stare. Others nod their head. Very few say, “hello” or “good morning”. I always get a kick out of saying “Good morning” to the very attractive women exercising in the park because they always, always, always, look at me (a heterosexual married woman) as if I am a stalker. And that makes me laugh.
I thought I would tell you this story because I believe we should start an Open Grove Challenge. I challenge everyone to say “Good Morning” to at least one stranger tomorrow morning. It feels really good to greet people in the morning sunlight. And sometimes their reactions will make you chuckle all day!
Let me know how it goes by clicking on the “comment” button below this blog.
