Misfits
What an oddly wonderful audio magazine! I had such a good time speaking with Dr. Jeff Meldrum about Bigfoot. I was amazed at how much science is dedicated to this mystery. As our friend Doug said, “I am really glad that people have the courage to look into things even if popular wisdom is against them.” Right on, eh? Hopefully Dr. Meldrum will return to the Grove when his new book comes out.
John Schuessler was a treat. We actually spoke for about 45 minutes. There is so much information about the “UFO mystery” that we didn’t have time to include. Hopefully we will use it later in the year. Again, it’s amazing how much science is dedicated to this mystery. Of course, we learned about MUFON (and the BFRO - Bigfoot Research Organization) through the X-files. It’s an odd occurrence when reality is more interesting than fiction!
What did you think of the trance mediums? I have heard of this phenomena, but never spoken with one. I was impressed at how humble Mick and Sylvie Avery were. And Gregory Haye? What an odd trip that was! Ok, the entire thing was a bit creepy.
We have had so many people ask us for more information about parenting. I thought Alfie Kohn’s ideas were interesting. He was personable, funny and really to the point. The funny thing is that every time I talk with these parenting experts I always think of BF Skinner’s son or Dr. Spock’s children. Years later, they speak of what awful parents their parents were. I am sure that won’t be the case with the Kohn’s.
What fun to speak with Dr. Peter Nardi! It’s a great opportunity to peek inside a world that we only know peripherally. I was so impressed with how articulate and personable he was. He works at Pitzer College in my hometown of Claremont, California. The funny thing is that in the late 1970s, Pitzer was know for women who didn’t shave their armpits. I of course asked him if that was still true, to which he laughed and chided me about my own prejudice.
And Paul…. I think we all go through the wondering stage of life. I think it’s a real treat that Paul is willing to share this experience with us. It looks like he is going to be off traveling again soon. We’ll keep you posted!
